Kocani Orkestar (Only in Mexico)

The powerful Kocani Orkestar is between the exponents with “funk” of the style of the “Balkan brass band” that are through all the ex--Yugoslavia and are descending direct more of the music of band of the Turkish army. They come from the city of Kocani, in the new Republic of Macedonia.

Its music is based on gypsy melodies of several regions of the Balkan Mountains and on Bulgarian rates Turkish/, with a touch of Latin flavor… A powerful rythmical section (drum + four tubas) that rockean and moans like a mutant band of Balkan Funk, enthusiastic soloists (saxo, trompeta, clarinete, and accordion) that lift to the heights some elements of their registered tradename which they have made of the style of Kocani Orkestar one of the gypsy more outstanding and wanted bands in Europe and the USA.

Artists like Cibelle, Beirut and Balkan Beat Box count between their his “fans” (and she is known that some of their pieces are “covers” of their songs). Kocani Orkestar has had pieces re mixed by Mr. Coconut, Lightning Head, Gaetano Fabri and Mercan Dede (in the Electric Gypsyland album), and by Animal Collective, Cibelle, Susheela Raman & Buscemi (in Electric Gypsyland 2).
