Luna Itzel
Luna Itzel studied theater at Mexico's national autonomous university (UNAM). As a student, she was a member for four years of “Cuatrova”, a quartet that performed ballads and love songs.
Luna Itzel joined forces with her husband, guitarist Helder Ruelas, to produce her first recording of original music and Latin rhythms. This album inspired the couple to give 300 concerts in schools and public plazas throughout the state of Michoacán, Mexico.
“Corazón Latino” was her next album, featuring the same Latin Pop concept as the first, to be followed by “Un Poco Más”, a production of boleros.
For two years, Luna Itzel was the host of “Noches de Romance”, a successful television program in Michoacán. Luna Itzel introduced guests and also sang on the program.
Luna Itzel surprised the public with her fourth production, “Frida, la Música que Acompañó sus Pasiones”, a selection of traditional Mexican music. On this album, Luna Itzel experimented with the “huapango”, a style that has since become a major personal challenge and passion because of the vocal and rhythmic skill it requires, as well as the ability to sing from the soul.
After more than ten years as a soloist, Luna Itzel has completed her newest album, entitled “Frida II, El Venadito”, a production in which she continues to enjoy, discover and recognize her Mexican roots—roots that are inevitably revealed in this new collection.
