Ambassador of her longed Africa, Maria de Barros is another face of the traditional music of Cape Verde, where the contagious gabble of the Portuguese, Spanish and African musical inheritances converge to reveal us the happiness of the rhythmical and jubilant pace of the coladeiras.

Maria de Barros sings about the beauty of Cape Verde and the nostalgia for the island, coladeiras, salseras, funanas and mornas with blues flavor, all her songs are full of histories of love and romance. Across the singing, Maria expresses the important influence that the French music and culture had in her life while she was growing in Africa. Her music is a lesson of intriguing geography. 

She has shared the stages with the five times nominated for the Grammy, Cesaria Evora , the "la diva aux pieds nus", who considers her as her goddaughter.
